New Testament Survey Part 7
This session surveys Philemon, 1 Timothy, Titus, and 2 Timothy.
Philemon – Homecoming. Paul, under house arrest, led a runaway slave to the Lord. He now writes to the slave's owner, Philemon, urging him to accept the slave back without retribution.
1 Timothy – Leadership Manual. Paul left Timothy in Ephesus to correct false teaching in the church. He writes to encourage Timothy's leadership example and to outline the qualifications of good leaders.
Titus – Christian Conduct. Paul left Titus on Crete to organise believers into local churches and appoint elders. He writes with guidelines for selecting leaders and encouraging believers to live lives worthy of the gospel.
2 Timothy – Combat Manual. Written as possibly his last communication before death, this personal letter outlines Timothy's responsibilities in carrying on Paul's ministry amid difficult times.
